When You Throught I Wasn't Looking*

I came across the poem "When You Thought I Wasn't Looking" and I decided to use it as a mentor text to write my own "When You Thought I Wasn't Looking" poem. I wanted to write one to my daddy because I just love him SO much. Although my mom and I are like best friends, my dad and I are a so much alike. I will always be a daddy's girl :)

When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking….

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you laminate my first couple watercolor paintings, and I wanted to paint another one

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you feed Hoover (the dog), and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you fill up my sandbox with fresh sand every spring and I knew that it’s the little things in life that are the special things.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I felt you rock me in the rocking chair to make sure I fell asleep, and I felt cherished.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I heard you say a prayer, and I believed there is a God I can always talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I felt you rub my head and kiss me goodnight, and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared, and I wanted me to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I LOOKED....
and want to say thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.
